JTC Academy was developed out of an intense need for programming that combines academics with therapeutic programming for youth having mental and acute behavioral health challenges that have often manifested into unmanageable, destructive and highly inappropriate behaviors. As a result, youth are often suspended or expelled, inappropriately placed, or placed in programs that only meet part of the youth’s needs. Research and statistics indicate that when youth experience these types of experiences eventually culminating a life of hopelessness, starting with drop out or falling through the cracks, and leading to a bleak future, a cycle of failure, homelessness and criminal behavior.

JTC Academy creates a nurturing and challenging environment in which all students achieve success, develop personal responsibility, and become lifelong learners. We promote a partnership with students, parents, businesses, and the community; utilize effective teaching methods and current technology; employ only highly qualified staff that are licensed by the state of Illinois and provide quality, comprehensive academic, career, and life-skill experiences.

JTC Academy has been providing special education services in the Metro East for the past 15 years.

Ask For a Tour

It is imperative for families to tour the school and visit with the staff members that will be working with your child.

What Sets Us Apart from the Rest

What sets us apart from all other non-public special education therapeutic day schools is we are a PBIS school with a solid educational foundation that combines an evidenced-based curriculum which includes common core, the use of technology through Chrome Books and Smart Boards and evidenced-based teaching practices to meet the needs of all of our students. We employ licensed special education teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors, CPI trainers, and have a full-time registered nurse/licensed school nurse, and the best-known child and adolescent psychiatrist in the State of Illinois, Dr. Jackie Hall-Davis who provides treatment to students as needed. Our Licensed counselors are PBIS trained and use positive behavior supports in treatment plans and all behavior intervention plans that are tracked all day, every day. Finally, providing transportation during this time of a bus driver shortage, is just another one of the many things that makes JTC Academy an outstanding choice for your non-public therapeutic day school needs.

Technology

Our students receive cutting edge instruction using evidenced based practices with technology infused with instruction throughout the majority of the school day.

Low Student-Staff Ratios

Classrooms having a maximum of (10) students will have a minimum of (1) licensed special education teacher and (1) licensed paraprofessional.  Additional support staff in classrooms, hallways, and throughout building contribute to a 3:1 student to staff ratio.

Transportation

We provide transportation within a 30-mile radius of our location. We will pick-up/drop-off students in St. Louis City, St. Louis County and the entire Metro East. Our bus drivers are properly licensed to transport students to and from school in our new fleet of buses.
